F1 is seen as, a good way of advertising their country with major investment needed to host a GP. Nearly every circuit on the F1 calendar makes up the strongest economies on the globe but, some aren’t here for a number of reasons. So today, I will tell you the 5 countries with the largest economies without an F1 GP and we are ranking them on their current GDP current Prices rating 2014.

5. Indonesia

This South East Asian country is 17th on the list for GDP in 2014 but, doesn’t host an F1 GP and never has done. The main reason for them not hosting a F1 GP in the modern F1 era is the fact that their local neighbours, Singapore and Malaysia host a GP each so, there isn’t the need for another GP in that part of the world and, they value tourism less than Malaysia and Singapore.

4. Netherlands

The Western European country is 13th on the list for GDP in 2014 and currently doesn’t host a GP but, did in the 1980s. One of the main reasons they don’t host an F1 race now is the simple fact that F1 is having less GP’s in Europe than it did 10 or 15 years ago and there are GP’s close to Holland currently on the F1 calendar in Belgium and Germany.  A return of F1 to the Netherlands is unlikely at the moment.

3. South Korea

The North East Asian country is 13th on the list for GDP in 2014 but, doesn’t host an F1 GP but did in 2010-2013. The main reason for them not hosting a F1 GP in recent years is the fact that their local neighbours, Japan host a GP so, there isn’t the need for another GP in that part of the world and, they value tourism less than Japan. Also, they made an F1 circuit that wasn’t financially viable for South Korea at the moment.

2. India

The South Asian country is 10th on the list for GDP in 2014 but, doesn’t host an F1 GP but did in 2011-2013. The main reason for them not hosting a F1 GP in recent years is the fact they made an F1 circuit that wasn’t financially viable for India at the moment with current Tax issues. Also, the F1 races held there were not very entertaining so, that might also be an issue to be resolved.

1. France

The Western European country is 5th on the list for GDP in 2014 and currently doesn’t host a GP but, did up to 2007. One of the main reasons they don’t host an F1 race now is the simple fact that F1 is having less GP’s in Europe than it did 10 or 15 years ago and there are GP’s close to France currently on the F1 calendar in Belgium and Monaco.  A return of F1 to the France is often rumoured but, is unlikely at the moment with French politics getting involved with the process. So, there a lot of nations with large economies that didn’t make this list showing, F1 can’t go to all of the Wealthiest nations on the globe but, is going to new nations to explore new potential markets for the sport and is leaving traditional F1 countries behind.
